Initial Project Intentions

Virtual Media Galleries

The aim of this project was to get Augmented Reality into the hands of regular, everyday people. New York City as a starting location to release the platform and then expansion on a global scale. The augmented world is best utilied if a single trigger can bring all relevant information to the mobile user. This trigger also known as a glyph would recieve media content from the public, soley generated from public intrigue. The experience would hinge on the availability of many glyphs located in various places and sizes. With a widespread availability in a region such as NYC we hoped to bring Augmented Reality(AR) to the forefront of everyday life.

Design of Mobile/Server Data Structure

The server/mobile communication had to be constructed in such a way as to prevent the pile up of information on mobile data capabilities. To prevent this from happening loading of data was triggered only when a specific gps location and a specific glyph were in agreement for a given mobile user. Recognizing of glyph and confirmation of location done on mobile side.

Team Building
Found interest in Augmented Reality and project possibilities during semester course at Cooper Union, EID103. The professor for said class was Dr. Eric Lima.
